The Baltimore Composers Forum presents Among the Reeds, a concert of new music performed by the Atlantic Reed Consort on Friday, November 7, 7:30 PM, at An die Musik, 409 N. Charles St, Baltimore, MD 21201. Pre-concert talk at 7:00 PM. Admission is $15 ($10 students), cash only at the door. The Atlantic Reed Consort features a unique combination of all-reed instruments: clarinet, oboe, saxophone, bass clarinet and bassoon. The group’s mission is to bring a fresh, cutting-edge sound to the quintet medium, embracing contemporary music and adding a new twist to the likes of Bach, Vivaldi and Debussy. Its five musicians, Emily Snyder, oboe; Brooke Emery, clarinet; Jeremy Koch, saxophone; John Romano, bass clarinet; Eddie Sanders, bassoon, are also members of the US Air Force Band, where they first met. A pre-concert talk with the composers, moderated by Baltimore’s well-known trombonist David Fetter, will start the evening. A wine reception with the performers and composers will follow the concert. The program includes works by Garth Baxter, David Fetter, Rahilia Hasanova, Ljiljana Jovanović, Harriet Katz, Keith Kramer, George Spicka and Hollis Thoms.
