2020/21 Call for Scores

CALL FOR SCORES for Sunday, September 27, 2020 Mini(atures) Concert

Open only to members of the Baltimore Composers Forum. JOIN

All submissions will be automatically accepted unless they are longer than one minute or they have technical issues.

Orchestration/format:
A one-minute long video of a composition for composers’ solo instrument featuring them playing it. This could be recorded on a phone or home video equipment.
-OR-
A one-minute long digital sound file + a score created by whatever software the composers use. This could be for any instrumentation, but no more than five instruments.

Maximum duration:
1 minute

Submit to info@baltimorecomposersforum.com:
Sound files in MP3 format.
Movie files in MOV or MP4 format. (use Box, Dropbox and WeTransfer if needed)
Scores in PDF format with a title included – (note: score is going to be used as a visual representation and is not needed if submitting video).
Include a PDF file of a 50 words maximum description of the composition as well as title, year of completion, and performers’ name(s) if applicable.

Submission deadline: Monday, August 31, 2020


CALL FOR SCORES for Saturday,  April 24, 2021 concert

Open only to members of the Baltimore Composers Forum. JOIN

Elise Christina Jenkins, mezzo soprano, baritone TBA, Bonghee Lee, piano and Giuseppe Sciuto, flute to be accompanied by Victor Frost, piano.

Orchestration:
Mezzo soprano, baritone, flute, piano and their subsets. Submissions featuring flute and voice(s) are not encouraged due to the very limited rehearsal possibilities. (the flutist is based in Texas). The additional instrument(s)/performer(s) can be added in agreement with the featured musicians; composers are responsible for finding and covering the fees of all additional performers

Maximum duration:
8 minutes (if submitting more than one piece the combined duration should not be longer than 8 minutes)

pdf of score and parts (audio optional)
—pdf of title, name of composer, completion date, duration
program note and bio (maximum combined length 300 words)

Submission deadline: Saturday, January 16, 2021 Selections announced by January 26. Composers whose submissions are accepted contribute $60 to help defray the costs.
